Osmo Transparent Wood Finish is an extremely versatile wood finish with many possibilities for use on wooden surfaces in outdoor areas.
It is ideal as a base coat for softwood, especially backsawn wood or gray and weathered wood surfaces. Osmo Transparent wood finish is also suitable as a light glossy top layer for Osmo Once stain HS or country house paint: doors, windows and shutters (dimensionally stable), carports, wood cladding, balcony elements, fences, pergolas, summer houses.
Storage: Up to 5 years and longer if the can is kept dry and closed, if thickened by frost, store at room temperature for 24-36 hours before use.
Preparation;
The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (maximum 20% moisture content).
Clean all grayed or weathered wood with Osmo Wood Gray Power Gel if necessary. old paint layers with Osmo Paint Remover gel..
But in any case, remove dirt and loose wood fibers . Osmo Transparent Wood Finish is ready to polish, not thin. Stir well. If possible, apply the first coat to all sides before beginning installation. Thoroughly clean old open-pore paint. Old finishes must be removed. Always wear a dust mask for dust extraction.
The finished result depends on the nature of the wood, therefore a test coat should always be made.
Application Osmo Transparent Wood Finish,
As a base coat : Apply thinly in the direction of the wood grain with an Osmo Brush or microfiber roller and rub thoroughly. Let it dry for 10-12 hours with good ventilation. Then create a finish with Osmo Country House Paint, etc.
As a glossy finish: Apply 1x very thinly in the direction of the wood grain with an Osmo brush or microfibre roller to the wood that has been treated with the pigmented Osmo finish and has been dried and spread well. Important Surface must be dry! During renovation, 1 layer on the surface is usually sufficient.
Cleaning the tools: With Osmo Brush Cleaner (free from aromatic compounds).
Drying time: approximately 12 hours (at 23 ̊C/50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity increase the drying time. Let air dry.
Note;
Osmo Transparent Wood Finish is clear and therefore offers no protection against UV radiation from the sun (aging). Not suitable for applications with single products in places exposed to weather influences (particularly terraces). Due to the surface structure, ribbed or rough sawn wood absorbs significantly more products.
For areas that are highly exposed to the elements, such as facades, posts, window sills, you should take into account significantly shorter renovation times.
Horizontally mounted wood should have an angle of at least 15 degrees.
Sharp edges must be rounded (radius > 2 mm). If the graying process has already started, refresh the surface with Osmo Power Gel and treat it. Due to its high oil content, Osmo Transparent Wood Finish exhibits a pale yellow effect when used on white pre-treated surfaces.
Please note : old or rough wood or wood that has been left untreated often absorbs more oil. With new wood it is best to let it weather for a few weeks first. This ensures that the wood is more resistant to rain and moisture influences. After this process you can clean the wood again with the .
It is therefore advisable to order slightly more than necessary, so that you can continue to maintain and update the surface annually.
For surfaces that have already been treated with Osmo or another brand or product, it is best to do a test. For a new layer, 1 layer is usually sufficient.
We therefore recommend using Osmo Natural Stain 900 White as a top coat in such cases. Oils enhance the natural color of wood (permanent wet effect)
Please note: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing.
If medical advice is needed, have the container or label available. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Please note: Wash cloths that are soaked with the liquid product immediately after use or store them in an airtight container in a metal container (danger of self-ignition). The dried finish complies with DIN 4102 class B2 (normally flammable).
Important : All cloths, brushes and rollers that you have used when processing Osmo products must be rinsed thoroughly with water and thrown away with normal household waste after drying because there is always a risk of self-ignition.
